An update on our NZSEE Resilient Building Project

Understanding societal expectations for the seismic performance of buildings

Over the past 7-8 months we’ve been working alongside NZSEE and EQC to understand societal expectations for the seismic performance of buildings.

Last week we presented some of our initial findings at the virtual 2021 Te Hiranga Ru QuakeCoRE Annual Meeting. Our poster summarises early highlights from the work we’ve done, including the continued focus on life safety, a desire to avoid multi-generational impacts, the importance of place in understanding risk attitudes, and the significant influence of proximal risks and priorities such as COVID, climate change and the housing crisis.

Check out our short video summary.
