Abstract

On 12 May 2008 an earthquake measuring 8.0 on teh Richter scale struck Western China’s province of Sichuan and its neighbours, killing 69,266 people, injuring 374,643 people and leaving 17,923 people missing (as of noon, 11 September 2008).
