Dean Kashigawa Seminar Series
The Resilient Organisations Research Group (www.resorgs.org.nz), a government funded collaborative research project between The Universities of Auckland and Canterbury and Kestrel Group Ltd, have organized a series of seminars and workshops presented by Dr Dean Kashiwagi Professor & Director of the Performance Based Studies Research Group (PBSRG) at Arizona State University.
Seminar 1: Performance Information Procurement System (PIPS).
Monday 9 July 2007 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Room 403.407
School of Engineering 20 Symonds Street
Auckland University
This presentation will explain the basis and results of field trialling the PIPS system developed by Dean who will give advice and information on how it can be used in New Zealand. Dean’s research has revealed flaws in the present contractual systems, and Dean will show that, in a disaster situation, these flaws will be exaggerated.
Seminar 2: TG61 Benchmarking Building Performance
Monday 9 July 2007 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Room 403.407
School of Engineering 20 Symonds Street
Auckland University
Dean is also the chairperson of TG61, and international research group examining benchmarking across different construction industry sectors. This seminar gives an opportunity for Dean to present an update on this group, whose focus is moving the construction industry away from commoditization and low performance and into an environment of measurement and value.
Seminar 3: Procurement in Disasters
Tuesday 10 July 2007 9.30am 12.00am
Room 403.407
School of Engineering 20 Symonds Street
Auckland University
Dean will review what is required to establish a comprehensive procurement framework and programme management plan for reconstruction after a natural disaster. This presentation will show international procurement systems, contractual systems, the types of procurement systems, the selection of contractual systems (e.g. FIDIC, JCT, NEC, etc.) and the place of industry familiarity in changes to existing contractual or procurement systems.
